Spring is in the air and new babies are on the farm. Frying Pan Farm Park is one of our favorite outdoor places in the D.C. metro area. Frying Pan preserves and interprets farm life of the 1920s to 1950s and is the home to a wide range of animals including, horses, pigs, turkeys, chickens, peacocks, goats, sheep, and rabbits. Kids love getting up close to the animals and exploring the farm. There is also an area with kid friendly tractors to climb and play on, a carousel, a playground, and even wagon rides are available.
The farm is free to enter, however there is a charge for carousel and wagon rides, you can purchase tickets in the general store, there you’ll also find snacks and goodies to purchase. Pack a lunch, picnic tables are available and there’s also plenty of grassy space if you prefer to bring your own blanket and picnic on the grass.
TIP-We usually park at the visitor center and walk down the gravel path. The restrooms in the visitor center are much nicer than the one on the farm.
The farm is stroller friendly.
